Whether you’ve had glasses for a long time or have just started to need them, there is a vision correction procedure that can help enhance your vision. Most people have heard about LASIK, PRK, or LASEK. These are laser correction procedures that can help correct nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism for over 90% of people who presently wear specs or contacts.

If you already wear or are interested in contact lenses, make an effort that you say so when you schedule your appointment for an vision test. You’ll need some extra time and additional tests such as an evaluation of your eye’s surface (cornea) so that your vision doctor can make an effort that you receive a proper contact lens fitting.

Side note: If you are in your 40s or older, read about the normal aging process called presbyopia. Whether you’ve worn glasses before or not, presbyopia will affect your vision. Learn about which procedure might benefit you.

It’s also important to don’t forget that some frames just don’t match certain types of lenses. Progressive lenses, for example, typically can’t be matched with today’s smaller, stylish frames. And it makes most sense to select a small, symmetrical frame that centers on your eyes if you have a high prescription. It is better to consider your lens selection first before buying frames.
